Verify at GIA.edu →This is truly an awesome "Uber" ring featuring the .90ct Fancy Yellow as well as six of the "baby old mine brilliant" diamonds.
It is a bold design - extremely sold and weighty - so very smooth as well.
It really does bear going into how these stones come to be. For many reasons, it really does not make sense to cut precious rough into a shape that may use more of the rough diamond, and come out with a weaker GIA grade from GIA.
However, there's a few key reasons it does make sense to me. There is a certain beauty in the way the stones look with is really unlike anything else. The facets are so large, it is almost an emerald cut - yet there is a softness to the shape, which is quite different from an emerald cut..
Of course Emerald Cut is also generally not seen in Fancy Yellow stones - radiant makes better sense get the maximum color.
In this case we expected a larger stone - and slightly deeper shade. The nature of the old mine cut - with those large facets - returns a lot of white light. In this case yellow white.
